Off Topic...

Howdy,

I know that this blog is suppose to be about my weight loss journey-which for right now is suspect..LOL! But I was reading a friend of mine blog about dating and needed to express myself here so bear with me. What do you all think about dating vs courting? Sometimes I feel like dating can have a negative view. As for me, I want to be courted here are some definitions that I've found to help those of you that are not sure of the difference.

Dating was invented in the early part of this century. Prior to that time, marriage always involved much more input from the parents, and "trial relationships" leading up to marriage were not conducted at all.

Courtship is a word that has been adopted to describe a biblical model for the relationship leading up to marriage. In the Bible, the parents were always involved in the marriage process.

-In the modern dating scene you usually hide all your faults to give a false impression about yourself, in order to keep your partner liking you. Recreational dating is about self-gratification -
- you date to satisfy your own needs.

Courtship is about open and honest exploration of each others lives and families leading up to engagement and marriage. Courtship is about marriage -- you court in order to see if there is any reason why you shouldn't get married. There is no romantic interaction until after the commitment to marriage. I'd love to hear what you have to say so please feel free to post!

As always-Stay prayed up, blessed and highly favored!

Keep the feet moving...

Hey Fellow Challengers,

How's life treating ya? I figure if I am still able to call myself a member of the land of the living..life ain't that bad! Ok, I am going to get right to it...this gym thing is for the BIRDS...LOLOL! There is no way that I am going to sit here and tell you lovely people that excersing is FUN...my body is often telling me that I need to go somewhere and sit down..smile! l feel a MADEA (Tyler Perry) moment creeping up but for your sake I will try my best to get a hold of her....LOLOL!

Today I went to the gym and lifted some weights...boy if you all could have only seen me...I have come to the conclusion that I really don't know what in the world I am doing. This would be where I would at least tell you what I did-being that I have don't have an idea of what the machines are called...let just say the weights and I had a good conversation...smile.

At any rate, the great thing is at least I'm trying. Have you ever had a reality check that would send you to any diet center in America? Well, I did...I took a side view of my body and let's just say there was NOT a vision of being Halle Berry!!!! Man, I saw this thing that looked like a kangaroo pouch...I stood there looking in the mirror...thinking " the Devil is a Lie...I am NOT about to put up with this...LOLOLOL! Anywho, all in all my journey is going well and I hope yours in too..smile!

Stay prayed up, Blessed and Highly Favored!

Kai

Dr. Ian's Weekly Tip

Reduce your stress.Don't worry, be happy! That's important when it comes to losing weight. Several studies have shown that stress leads to all types of bad habits, especially when it comes to eating. If you reduce your stress, you have a better chance of being successful on an eating program and losing weight. Try meditating, doing yoga, listening to your favorite music, walking, reading a book, or any other activity that helps you relax. Stress reduction is also good for your cardiovascular system, so your heart will thank you as well!

Creating a healthier lifestyle stretches beyond diet and exercise. You have to pay special attention to your mind and soul as well. Make room in your busy schedule and find a moment for yourself. It doesn't have to be a lot of time- you can create an extra 10 to 20 minutes in your day by waking up a little earlier, have lunch on your own or even delay turning on the TV until you've had time to clear your mind.

You can manage your stress. Be intentional and find time to relax, and you'll gain a stronger perspective on what is truly important in your life. Best ~ Dr. Ian

Day one on my Journey

Hey Everybody,

Today is my first day on the way to being a few pounds lighter....OK who am I kidding a LOT of pounds lighter! Like so many of us I grew up as an "butter ball" kid and that was fine way back then but know life and bad eating habit has caught up with me. Right now, I am a diabetic (Type II) and I have High Blood Pressure at the ripe YOUNG age of 31! Have you ever looked in the mirror and wonder where that extra person came from? As much as I weight I could truly lose " full grown woman" and still have some to share!

My saving grace is that I am tall and can hide the weight well however, when I am home and in my private time I can see all the bumps, curves and never ending road map I call my body. So, get your dancing shoes on folks as I (you are more than welcome to come a long) take on the world of a gym...smile! Please understand this won't be easy but we can join hands together and eat healthy and exercise our way to a new body and good health!
